Luke May Success!!

Junior Fighters at recent Super League

Luke May was recently awarded the Spirit Fighting Gloves after continued outstanding success at recent tournaments (see tournament round up on page 3). The picture above shows Alex Taylor who continues to improve his winning ways on the National competitive scene and Josh Wood who is new to the tournaments and has already won some trophies. Luke May is a fine example of where everyone can reach, with dedication, hard work and patience. A number of years ago when Luke first started out at tournaments he didn't just step onto the matt and start winning everything. For the first year his goal was to get through the first round, then he was getting some 3rd places, 2nd places, then finally a win and now winning most events he enters. This has been a gradual, slow (and sometimes painful!) process, but this is what makes a champion. Luke isn't finished yet, getting to the top is one thing, staying there is a whole new ball game!.

Cimac World Cup

0002l..kkhe Cimac World Cup is the biggest Open Tournament on the English circuit, attracting loads of competitiors from across the globe. This years event was held at the Windsor Leisure Centre on Sunday 8th July. There was a good attendance from the SKF, Luke May kicked off the results winning the tallest boys (a very competitive division) fighting off an Irish fighter in the semi's, then an Italian fighter in the final. After months of preparation Paul Smallwood stepped into the ring for his Full Contact debut. He fought his way to the final to step up against a more experience full contact fight, though Paul gave as good as he got the experience of the other fight showed through. A well deserved 2nd Place for Paul. After a long... wait Laura Fitch nervously stepped up for the kata division, showing her experience with an outstanding performance she won 1st place!. Jacey was 2fast4 his opponents winning the men advanced -75kg division, then later in the day fought with Team SWAT in the team event, he won his fight but the team lost by only 1 point! to the eventual winners team Top Ten.
